Everyone who's ever kept a dog will know that they are not simply unintelligent primitive organisms reacting to direct stimuli, but mischievous, intelligent animals.

We all know that if a dog wants something and you tell it no, it will simply wait til it thinks you can't see it.

Well now, breaking news, what we've always known to be true, suddenly is true:)

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-21411249

In an experiment, it was found that dogs are 4 times more likely to steal food they've been told they can't have when they think their owner can't see them do it:)

My dog would turn its nose up at cabbage, but if I sliced it, put it on a plate, put it in the fridge & then take it out again, he'd eat the lot.

As you say, this isn't news - the really clever bit is that most dogs have perfected the art of appearing to be completely innocent when you both know it's as guilty as hell!

We say "if you don't want it, the chickens will have it" and she suddenly wants it.

Well, I must be lucky, because my dog Fred has never stolen anything, I have left things on the floor such as a pencil, and he has never bothered.

However, when I was younger, my father had a shop where he sold salami, we had a young collie cross, who somehow got hold of a whole salami, and ate the lot, with dire consequences the next day. !:eeew:

I thought it was deeper than merely " .. wait til it thinks you can't see it ... " :dunno:

Sometimes we confuse what we believe we know, with what we then understand we know.

I'm not sure if I'm confused about that, or I believe I know what it means, or I understand that I know what it means!!:dunno:  :heehee:
