The list is endless. What do you like? Cities (old or new)? Countryside? Mountains? Lakes? Quaint villages? Impressive architecture?

Some things that immediately spring to mind that might be less obvious:

    * Chesterfield cathedral for its unusual spire.
    * Durham cathedral, just because it is amazing
    * For that matter, Durham city. Its fab.
    * Ladybower reservoir in the Peak district, one of the two places in the UK where the Dambusters trained, still not knowing what their mission was.
    * Richmond, North Yorks. It has a good castle ruin, and it has to be the one of the prettiest villages I know.
    * High Force, somewhere inland of the river Tees. Its a pretty awesome waterfall. Granted probably not on the scale of some of the world's waterfalls, but pretty awesome nonetheless.

I could go on and on. There's loads.

I could easily lose you in Scotland for at least two weeks - I'd be happy to help with some more detailed directions or ideas if you want. Are you going by car or wanting to do trains/planes/boats?

If you want, drop me a PM and I will send you my email address which might make it easier to give you details/maps and stuff?

Chester , then along the north Wales coast to the Snowdonia national park . Then on to the Llyn peninsula around Abersoch :dbgrtmb:

          West coast of Scotland is a good starting point - Loch Lomond (Alexandria or Luss), Inverarie, Oban, Loch Awe (stunning scenery) & Cruachan Power Station (well worth a visit), The Trossachs, Glen Coe, Fort William, Callander then over to the east St Andrews and the Kingdom of Fife (the fish and chips from Anstruther are the best you will EVER have), over the bridge to Edinburgh and East Lothian, and then if you have time left you can go on to the borders and Dumfries and Galloway;

          and breathe....

I am about to go to bed, but I will endeavour to sit down and work something out for you tomorrow, and then will PM you my email address - sorry I can't do it tonight Sal, but I can feel the old eyelids going now I've taken my tablet.

So many beautiful places. Here is my list..

Edale - because its the start of the Penine Way and offers so many walks.

              Lake District

Cotswolds - rolling hills and postcard village scenes.

              Cheddar Gorge

North Norfolk, wells next the sea, holkham hall, Blakeney.

              And the list goes on.

All my suggestions are in the South West:

Bath is a beautiful Georgian city plus the Roman ruins it's unique really.

                  Stonehenge and Avebury are mystical.

Glastonbury, Wells and the Cheddar Gorge.

There are so many things to see in Cornwall like St Michael's Mount and The Eden Project (old and new), Polperro and other quaint fishing villages.

If you can stomach the boat ride, then the Isles of Scilly.. without doubt.

If you end up coming up this way let me know.. plenty of places around this area.. as previously mentioned, Chester.

A walk to Hilbre Island is something no one thinks of, but it might be worth it.
