Its been a dry day 2nd feb, so I took the opportunity to do some work at the allotment. In the morning I stripped the shelving from polytunnel frame, recovered the floor, put shelving back in and fitted new poly cover.

Then this afternoon after a couple of fatty rump steaks (yummy) I went back with the intention of leveling a piece of soil for my new polytunnel. However the soil wss so water logged that I had no choice but higher one end of my plot to stop the water draining into it. To help matters I filled the trench with last years garden waste.

Once this area is more stable and not like quicksand I will cover with weed control fabric ready for new polytunnel.

YouTube video hope that is correct if not my allotment videos are under juliedrake23.

Had a busy day at allotment, was so lucky to miss the snow and rain that started at 4.00pm. Area where new polytunnel is going is now dug, just needs leveling. uploadfromtaptalk1360095584068.jpg

Today I put the polytunnel cover on, not an easy task alone but it went on easily. I so pleased I got it done. uploadfromtaptalk1361277110505.jpg

Currently just digging over the plot, removing stones/sticks and waging a war on weeds. I have aggrevating lots of weeds last year, first time veg grower here.

Spent 6 hrs at allotment, planted 3 fruit trees. Did some digging, ground covering and carried the 20 pallets and 8 raised beds across from road to my plot. My arms ache so much. uploadfromtaptalk1361651772377.jpg

rhubarb looks good, are these taken from a larger set? I'm growing some for the first time this year, would love some tips. My grandad uses a lot of manure on his.

Nfrost the rhubarb you are viewing is what I grew from seed last june. Take a look at my youtube channel to see how things progressed last year. Look for julie drake and the poppy.

This year I will be starting my rhubarb earlier, probably next week. In my allotment I add manure and multi compost.

            Hi all,
This thread seems to have lapsed which is a shame because I'd love some tips as to what we could all be doing each month. I've only had my plot since end of June and am very much a newbie. Would it be best to have a monthly "What are we doing this month?" or stick with one long thread, both have pro's and cons

            Andrew
