Last autumn I bought 3 plants quite simply because they were practically for free
    I got
    Honeysuckle hilliana
    Jasmine beesanium
    Clematis multi blue
I re potted all 3 and have been over wintering in my greenhouse until I decided what to do with them. I thought the clematis had died but on a closer inspection their does seem to be a new shoot poking through. So my first question is will it come back from the little shoot poking out?
My next question is will the rest be ok to plant out at this time of year and are their any other requirements for them ie soil type etc.
ps they will all be in containers
    Thanks for reading
    Dan

The clematis will probably be fine - they all look dead in Feb.

The other two are perfectly hardy and should be OK to plant out fairly soon, but probably this very cold snap is best avoided.

Have they been kept in a warm place, eg indoors? If so, you will have to get them gradually used to the colder conditions outside before putting them out.

The honeysuckle and jasmine will potentially make very big, rambling plants but will be curbed by keeping them in a pot.

No they have been in my unheated greenhouse so their used to the cold already. I put up an arch in my front garden this morning. The idea is for the jasmine to climb up on side and the honeysuckle the other. The main reason their in pots and not in the ground is we are looking at moving house soon so that way I can take them with me lol. As for the clematis I'm not sure what I'm going to do with that yet. Maybe some trellis against a wall or fence in the back garden. Thanks for the reply madahlia :ThankYou: :blue thumb:

Sounds like a good plan. Be aware that the honeysuckle and the jasmine both climb by twining round a support so it will speed the coverage of the arch if you provide a few extra vertical canes to help them to get up there. In a year or two they'll be able to drape over it if they can't twine.

Sorry I didn't make my self clear about the arch it's a rose/climbing plant flower arch frame sort of thing so theirs plenty of supports to wrap around for climbing

If you plant them in pots outside now you may lose them as the roots have no protection from frost and the soil becomes near solid at this time of year.
