A few weeks ago a light bulb in my bedroom blew and popped the trip switch in the main fuse board. When I reset it I noted that it only served the lights in the upstairs bathroom and part of my bedroom, and an idea was born.
In the corner of the bedroom is this cupboard................

I don't use it and decided that it would be an ideal light box. The central heating pipes even run through it!
So I measured it and ordered three low energy, high output fluorescent tubes. Guess what - I measured it wrong! So this is what I have at the moment.............

I can only fit one tube in diagonally! :thud: So tomorrow I'll order three more and hopefully they'll take the two unopened ones back. Then I can set it up properly before Mr Sparks comes to wire them in.

Will they not go vertically up th side of the cupboard instead of horizontally?

It doesn't detract from the originally brilliant idea Keith. It looks an ideal set up and Rusty's suggestion looks pretty good too :dbgrtmb: , can't' wait to see final piccie when it's all rockin' and rollin',:dancy:

I can't understand why LongK doesn't just leave the door open and hang the lights front-to-back  I'm sure no one would notice or complain ... :heehee:

Too long to go vertically. They need to be just over the seedlings really too. I'll probably screw this one up in the cellar.

All day I measure things (and use a multimeter) to a high degree of accuracy - I got this 15cm wrong!!!

        It will be eventually
Jenny. I thought that it was quite inspired!

This thing belts the light out - it's like Blackpool in the bedroom with the door open (I checked)!

LED panels instead perhaps? My one has worked well enough so far that at the back end of this year I'm going to scale up on the same tech.

          Run out of horses!

A keg of good scrumpy in the bedroom is an idea..........

          It's a thought.

Just build a pot stand. Leave the fluorescent tube on the floor, and the plants could be above it growing downwards.

I think we have all done something like that LongK. But an excellent idea.

Were they to (or would they) go up the sloping side? Or how about attaching vertically to the back of the door?

It would work if I were growing trailers!

They will. I just lose the functionality of it as far as seedlings go.

The doors are not tall enough..........

Bring the surplus to requirements one to Shineyland. Someone will probably find a use for it,
