    Payment protection insurance ...

As Britain gets bombarding by text message and phone call ,
I actually find out that I`m entitle to get some money back
from an old car loan and a mortgage I took years ago.

Now with all the scummers and peoples calling you and ask for your detail
    who do we really belive????

has anyone managed to get an honest company to place the claim?

I reckon we must be due for some money back as well as we took out a loan to buy our car but can't find the paper work so will have to get Mr Kandy on the case to ring our bank and have a chat to them, because it is our money after all and every little helps:snork:

You're not automatically entitled to claim. You need to be able to show that you were mis-sold the policy. This can be for a number of reasons such as: you didn't know it was included, the terms of the policy don't (or didn't) suit your situation, you were given incorrect or insufficient information etc.

The link that Aesculus has put up is a good one. :dbgrtmb: If you think you may have a claim then do it yourself. It's not difficult. :)

I wouldn't touch these companies with a barge pole. There was a case on one of the consumer rights programs were a gullible individual signed a contract which allowed the company a percentage of the money he would have spent had he continued with the loan he had. End result - the cowboys took every penny and sent him a bill for £3k for the additional PPI he would have paid had he not made a claim!!!

Thee moneysaving expert site is brilliant, not only does it help with day to day matters but also warns you about the latest scams. I recommend signing up for the weekly news letter.

Shiney, they were saying on the radio last week that many people wasn't told that PPI insurance was included in the loan and that if they contact their bank or whoever gave them the loan then they have to be told whether or not PPI was added on.It doesn't hurt to ask and it is better in the customers pocket than the banks:biggrin:

I did it myself, had a couple of hundred back so far, didn't know I was paying PPI for my overdraft, which is pretty pointless when I haven't got a job to loose.

Barclays said that to me, I ignored them, and then they crumbled & sent me the money.

Lloyds, (who I know stitched me up for some rediculose insurance) wrote back asking for details, but i'd not kept any of the statements as it was over 7 years ago.

Fortunately I used to do telephone banking with them, and after a day or so of thinking, found the account number was still stored in my head in the form of a computer generated voice.

Do you want my template of the letter I sent them?

A certain bank that will remain unnamed, but suffice to say their name might imply that they are a Hong kong and Shanghai based Banking Corporation, told me that I had to restructure my existing loan with them because they'd withdrawn the previous arrangement, and I either had to pay back nearly £8k within a couple of weeks, or take out a new loan with them for £10k, with PPI included. Of course I no longer have paperwork because it was a while ago and the debt has been settled in full now, and in any case much of the 'agreement' was done verbally over the phone. I wonder if I might be able to claim.
