Is there some product I can put in my header tank that will de calc the system without having to flush the whole thing?

    Cor, that looks good Mowgley:dbgrtmb:

    I'll give it a go.

Got a log burner that powers 8 rads and the hot water tank, its on full blast at the moment but not heating up the house like it used to do.

We've not used one so can't vouch for their effectiveness, but you can buy electronic decalcifiers (Maplin sells - what I suspect is an 'entry level' one - for around £8), or look on here .... http://www.screwfix.com/c/heating-plumbing/water-treatment/cat831542 .... they do a whole range of inhibitors.

Failing that, have a look on Amazon - even if you're not going to buy it from them, it'll give you an idea of the numerous 'additive' products available.

It might be better to ask a proper plumbing and heating suppliers what they use/suggest

Zigs make sure your rads are balanced too.
This helps alot. Instead of flushing the system you could take each rad off individualy pressure wash them outside.

I've balanced the rads ta, got a feeling if theres a lime build up, its likely to be in the back boiler itself.

I had a lump of limestone in my rock collection that I couldn't for the life of me remember collecting, some time later I remembered that my Brother had given it to me, it was out of a central heating boiler:doh:
