I grew bhut j's last year and have got some seedlings on the go from saved seeds. Germinated in moist kitchen towel. They have 4 true leaves now so well on the way. They really are exceptionally hot...

As soon as they germinate it will be obvious, tiny shoot coming from the seed. Check them daily as they germinate quite quickly and it's best to get them in the soil quickly.

Sounds like they are ready, if you leave them too long you can end up with twisted stems. I did that last year :-)

I plant mine as soon as I see the root sprout, make sure the soil they are going into is roughly the same temp as the seeds. I store mine outside so I fill the pots and leave in the propagator for a while to equalise before planting. Hope that's some help.

I sow directly into compost, clingfilm over the top with some holes punched and 80f bottom heat. If you overwinter the best plants you can get a good headstart on the season.
