      It looks nice through the French doors this morning - nice bright sun - but the outdoor thermometer sensor has only just clicked over to 4º; I'm beginning to think that we should all build great big green houses over our entire gardens!

        It's now a week since our major snowfall and the sun has shone every day since to bring on a slow thaw, which is not a bad thing. That said, it's going to be weeks before I can get back to digging my new bed. Frustration and boredom are setting in! :doh:

        Have you managed to excavate the GH Sheal? Any damage or all intact,
        Jenny

        I can get to the greenhouse now Jenny, it still has a small drift on one side but there's no damage, thank you. I'll be out there this weekend sowing more seeds to start off indoors as I can't do anything outside. The snow is still about a foot deep in my garden and the drifts are still about 3ft high. :frown:

          I'm very lucky Jenny, the only pests I get in my garden are slugs. :)

            Last night recording the lowest March temperature on my records, -4.5C, and may well be classified as the lowest March minima of all time on this date. It wasn't the lowest local March minima of all time, officially though (-6.1C)

            I suspect a fair bit of damage will show up in summer plantwise, but it could have been much worse. At least the sun is out and it's getting warmer. Some more seriously low minimums tonight before it gets more tolerable.

            We were promised snow showers here today and that's just what we've got.
            Been snowing steadily here for the past 15 minutes and beginning to settle on the grass. Outside temperature presently a balmy 1·5ºC.

              So were we!

              I remember an old wife's tale that my grandparents use to say and it went something like this;

              " it needs snow to take snow away"

              So if this is the case I hope it does snow today then we might see the end of it!
