Hi, I am reintroducing myself as haven't been on the site for about 5 years! I live in the South East and have recently moved in to a house with a lovely garden that, apart from lawn-mowing, seems to have been neglected for a good few years so I am trying to bring it back to life. It is east-facing, about 85 feet long and the soil seems to be quite heavy - maybe London clay? The huge amounts of rain we have had over the last few months have made the ground pretty sodden and muddy. So far we have had some large trees cut back and a couple of huge Leylandii taken out to get some more light and space into the garden. Looking next at pruning/removing some old overgrown (and some sickly) shrubs and creating a vegetable patch. Wish me luck :)

      Good morning SazG,
:sign0016: to Gardeners Corner. Sound like you have quite a decent sized garden and lots of scope to get it how you want it to look. Plenty of ideas and advice here, have a wander round. Others will be up soon to say hallo,

SazG Welcome (back) to GC :sign0016: Sounds like you have got off to a good start by cutting back to let light in.

I garden on heavy clay too and yes, this soggy Autumn/Winter has left the ground in a right old state for working on. Still rather that than the caked hard rock it turns to in the summer.

We are picture hungry creatures here at GC, so any time you fancy posting a picture ... :heehee:

      Good luck :ccheers:

Welcome back SazG. With a delayed spring this year it's now a good time to get the pruning done. Happy gardening! :)

        Hello:)

Posting pics is easy. See the buttons just below were you type a post? One is 'Upload a file'. Click that to open the file upload dialog box. Then just navigate to the picture (saved on your computer) that you want to upload and click 'Open'. A little preview of the picture will appear just below where you're typing your post. There will be two buttons next to the image. Click 'Full Image', and it will insert your picture into the post. When you're happy with your post, hit 'Post Reply' as normal.
