Daisies belong in a lawn, but if you really, really want rid of them, they're easy enough to remove. Take a flat head screwdriver, about 5/8" wide but it doesn't need to be precise. Poke it into the ground at about a 45 degree angle, right into the base of the poor innocent plant so that its stem is severed from its roots just below the soil, and then just lever it out.

Yes I like daiseys but there must 2 or 3 thousand at least. That's all that's out there then really and they have taken over the lawn. You can see in the pics. I'd be out there for several weeks.

I think the problem lies less with the daisies and more with the poor grass growth. Applying herbicide just addresses the symptoms rather than the underlying cause. Possibly a result of too much trampling, mowing too short and soil compaction.

Hello again everyone. I want to sort out my lawn now. Can anyone recommend something I could get to put in a watering can and spread or something? Is there not a sachet of something I can get to sprinkle in and get rid of all but the remaining grass? All I see in the shops which is mostly Homebase ! here and a massive rip off is big boxes of mosskiller with added grass seed or the likes. Or round up in a squirty bottle which is no good as it will take forever.
Whats best to do ? Or should I just get a box of grass seed and spread that out and let it grow?

It's far too early to do anything with your lawn other than moss control. Patience!

Weedkiller won't do anything as the weeds aren't growing (Don't use round up on your lawn, as it will kill the grass too!) and any grass seed put down will just sit there and get eaten by the birds.

There is no "quick fix" to getting a good lawn and there is no "magic potion" you can put in a watering can to fix it.

Hi Kris, Is it a good time to put grass seed out now? Whats the best way to do it on an exsisting lawn? Just throw it out there and keep watering or is it still too soon?

We are right on the cusp, so you should be okay to overseed now. Spread the seeds, rake them in to get a good soil contact and then water. (or better still, put them down just before rain is forecast). Keep thm moist for the next two weeks, and they should do well.

Hey Kris. Grass has grown well but it doesnt seam to want to grown more than a half inch! Maybe an inch in places! I love mowing but it doesnt seam to grow much or very fast so I dont get much mowing! If I wanted to cut it now i would just scalp it really. Im sure thats not good is it ? I Have not cut it for 3 weeks. Any thoughts?
fyi, Probably not the best but the seed came from lidl.

Is it getting plenty of water? In this heat, young grass will be getting backed alive if it can't get enough to drink.

Even established grass lawns stop growing in hot dry summers unless you give it lots of water as Clueless1 says

Cool season grasses (what we have in the UK) slow their growth dramatically once the temperature gets too hot for them (24+). This is normal.
Definitely keep watering them though, to keep them hydrated.
