On Friday, I made the brave decision to let Ozzy off the lead, in the woods. Brave, because, when we got him we were told we would never be able to have off-leads walks because of his breed.

Well, we've only passed our Bronze badge, so far, but, I thought I'd take the risk because I found the most beautiful location.

This is Ozzy's 'Milestone' Woodland Walk:

And this is Ozzy coming back to call

          CIMG0007.JPG

No that is not a ball in his mouth ... that is his TONGUE!! :roflol:

And here he is, having a drink ...
          CIMG0019.JPG

Why he has to go all the way into the water, instead of sipping from the edge, I do not know!

Yay - well done Ozzy. Passed with flying colours. How did it feel for him to be free and unfettered !! Absolutely wonderful surely.
How did you feel Mum? I think you knew he wouldn't run off - life is just tooooo good with you and your family. You must feel very chuffed to be able to say - he is fine off the lead in the woods,
            magic piccies, thanks Mum.
            Time to celebrate :ccheers:

              Hi Mum

He looks really happy , when I used to take my lot down to the beaches by me I would always wear the same jacket so they could easily spot me , helped on busy days so they could spot me as they all used to crazy on the beach

Jenny namaste Well, judging by Ozzy's demeanour, his face and the speed he went, I feel very confident in saying he felt a million dollars! :doggieshmooze: I knew I could only do it if I 'didn't' feel nervous about it, because he would pick up on that and it wouldn't have helped.

Having said that, yesterday the little rascal *did* disappear ... for a good 5 minutes :thud: I called, he didn't answer (or come back :nonofinger: ) so I walked further up the path, keeping my eyes and ears peeled. Then, out of the blue - and like a juggernaut at full speed: BOO! - the cheeky thing came running down the path towards me!! :roflol: I may not have been able to spy him, but I think he was spying me just fine. :heehee:

Spruce Good tip about the jacket  We're not at the stage where I would feel confident with Oz at our local beach; the road is far too close and too, too tempting for him. I'm happy to keep him to the woods for now ... the beach can wait until we've achieved our Silver badge ;) The park (think balls, joggers, cyclists) will have to wait until Gold, I think :heehee:

                  Pleased you liked the pictures.

                    Mum

On two of my cocker spaniels , who used to just vanish into bushes long grass bracken I fitted a cat bell on to the collar so at least I could hear them.

It looks like he had a great time Mum, in and out of the water. It's always a bit nervy when you let them off for the first time but you took him to the right place to do it. Onwards and upwards! :dbgrtmb:

I couldn't take a dog to such a place and keep it on the lead, I dont know the full story of Ozzy, but he seems to be getting on fine.
