Hi All. Planted my 1st lilies a time ago and a bit of advice please. I planted 6 Lily Oriental Mixed bulbs a while ago in a container and put them outside on patio.
When a bit of frost came I transferred them to greenhouse where they have stayed. All 6 have come through and 5 are about 1 1/2" tall but the 6th one is around 6" and going strong. Would it be best to keep them in greenhouse until say mid May when it is warmer and hopefully frost is about gone or are they hardy enough to go outside? I do not want them growing and flowering before it is time to go on patio.

I also have my 1st 2 Calla lilies planted in small containers about 2 weeks ago in greenhouse and daily checking for the first sign of activity. On that note is there still time to start call off in greenhouse ready for summer or is it getting a bit late?
    Thanks

Hi with the oriental lilies , start putting out during the day then bring into the grehouse for the night do that for about 10 days then they can stay out all the time other wise you will get then to come on to quickly

the one that is taller because you have a mixed bunch some will be stronger growers than the others so it is to be expected but they should all roughly flower about the same time

With the Calla lilies leave in the green house until mid May , they are still selling the bulbs/tubers ? so plenty of time to get some more if you wanted , plus dont over water at this stage it may rot the roots etc .

My Lilies stay out in various pots all through the Winter and they are very hardy. I have around 800 of them in various stages of development and sizes due to propagating the scales. Even individual one year old Lilies in small pots have braved the Winter and are still going strong, so I wouldn't be too worried about their hardiness.:snork:
