Then you could grow even more plants and fill those up too :)

I need to do something too, replying to this post reminded me I've been collecting used soft drinks bottles - I'll cut off the bottoms and use them as mini-cloches for each bean.

Probably mice had the broad beans. No idea why the sweet peas went. I resowed several times from a 6 pack of varieties, only some of the varieties came up and then rather sparsely.

I've long been of the opinion that sometimes suppliers sell seed that is sub-optimal. It could be seed that's been stored in unsuitable conditions such as an overheated garden centre, or simply seed that has to be sown fresh but is no longer fresh. Gardeners rarely complain because they blame themselves if stuff doesn't grow.

That didn't work very well, the beans are too big to fit in without squashing the leaves and they have already started climbing up the strings. So back to slug pellets

Bigger bottles of tonic to go with the Gin ...

... on second thoughts I can see a flaw in that plan!

Canna seedlings have done well and so have dahlia tubers, begonia, crocosmia and lilies. As you can see, they are all bulbs. Seed have not done so well. Only a few coleus out of a packet, agapanthus seeds did not do anything, even though they were from a reliable source. Nasturtiums went leggy but got a few geraniums. Seem I am not green fingered enough with seeds :snork:

My germ rate was satisfactory - although nowhere near perfect - and I did have a whole tray (or polystyrene meat dish !) full of lobelia go mouldy. As most of us, my biggest problem was keeping them all indoors for so long. I have a few perennials/next year's spring flowerers to sow - which normally I am not so successful with - thinking after the explosion of spring sowing and the subsequent looking after/potting on, by June, July I have had enough and haven't got the strength for any more TLC.
