    Which bit, the thunder?

The magic is a bit beyond my understanding, but its something I've observed loads over the years. Stuff always grows faster after thunder.

I used to think it was partly down to the rain that usually accompanies a thunder storm, and partly somehow to do with static stimulating the plants. I found out fairly recently that I was almost exactly right, except that the lightning does nothing to the plants directly, but using magic beyond my understanding, it turns gaseous nitrogen (ie nitrogen that plants can not use) into mineral nitrogen, ie plant food.

Back to the original topic :heehee:. Same as Trunky - We've still not had the promised rain and are still having to use our sprinkler to stop all the plants from dying of drought!

Didn't get the expected rain here either.

Mr Mum was laughing at me watering the new bed yesterday and muttering nonsense
          " ... :lolpt: .... month's worth of rain .... today ... you're watering plants ... "

Seems I was right (again!) :pathd:

So the sooner the ice caps melt, the better for us then? Perhaps we'd be better off with fossil fuel power stations pumping out CO2 to get that job over before NW Europe's agriculture, outdoor leisure, tourism, etc. go down the tubes. And perhaps those folks with solar panels, wind generators, etc. should be made to pay punitive taxes for prolonging our misery.

It kept missing us . I think I mentioned it a few times in the 'weather..' thread. A couple of times it was raining the other side of the field but missed us!

We finally got some decent rain here last night.
Up until now we've had only small amounts for the past few weeks, which has mostly disappeared through evaporation.
