There is some truth in this; the body will crave something it is lacking in. However, there is also the truth that the body will *demand* something it has become accustomed to (hence, addictions).

I recall, working alongside a young man, who had a very distinct "glow" in his skin. This concerned me for a few reasons (not least because I had witnessed a "glow" in my mother's skin, some years earlier and, in her case, she was dying of cancer), so, I gently, and hopefully tactfully, drew the conversation around to this. Turns out, he had a particular craving for "Sunny Delight" and it was that which was causing his skin discolouration. Who knew!? :dunno: He was riding on a sugar high, coupled with the additives (colourants) within the drink.

Have a little ponder on what your sugar intake is (do include all the hidden sugars!). On the one hand, yes of course it could be your body is lacking in something - which has brooked the craving - but, by that same token, it may be that your body has become used to a certain level of something (e.g. sugars) and is demanding it but not actually 'requiring' it.

The only way to know for certain though, isn't to post here but to go and see your GP and have some blood tests. If it turns out that your body is craving Vit C (hoorah!) then life is good; however, if your body is demanding the sugar content of that Vic C drink ... ? ... go catch it sooner rather than later! :grphg:

I reckon this happens. When I'm coming down with lurgy I always get odd cravings. Usually for citrus fruit and white fish. The citrus fruit I can understand. Vitamin C and all that, but white fish? I don't mind white fish, but I prefer oily fish like mackerel really. I find white fish to be very bland. Unless its the carbohydrates and protein that my body is after from it.

Bad for you? I wouldn't presume to give any sort of medical opinion, but will instead offer this ...

On 3 separate occasions I have been known to drink over 5 litres of fresh orange juice every single day for several weeks. Mind you, those were the 3 occasions when I was pregnant, (the rest of the time I can't abide the stuff).

                I'll say no more :loll:

I had the most terrible craving for Nuttals Mintos when I was pregnant (peppermint for indigestion?) After daughter was born my Mother was in the sweetie shop where she'd been buying my supplies of the Mintos from. The shop owner enquired as to whether my baby had arrived and on hearing it had he asked if it came out smelling of mint!!!
