          I have one growing up through a conifer. It has grown in such a way that at the top it has been entwining through ITSELF and it looks as if the conifer is wearing a halo:loll: I can't wait to see what it looks like when it flowers.

            ashamed to say this never even occurred to me :doh:but how do you get it to grip onto the trunk of the tree? it wont be going anywhere fast if it doesn't get up the trunk. im sure i have some of that green mesh stuff somewhere :scratch: i'll have to have a rummage about for it, what did you guys use/do?

            you don't have to train up the trunk a branch will do and a pole , plus growing a couple of feet away the plant gets more water

              My Clematis Armandii was planted at a angle towards the tree trunk and then the stems were held against it by string.......seems to work:dunno::snork:
