Monsanto's "does not pose any unacceptable risks to human health and the environment" attitude is the same as yours???

Whether it is or not Armandii, I feel there is nothing I can do to prevent the use of chemicals such as Glysophate being put into the food chain. I am slowly coming round to the hard truth that the survival of this planet and all its creatures is going to have to change...

If its still glyphosate when it comes back out of your body, then I think that means it is as non-toxic as they say.

If someone tested my wee after I'd eaten pineapple, asparagus or garlic, they'd find high levels of certain chemicals in there. We must remember that the very reason our wee is not just fresh water is because its also where our kidneys dump any unwanted chemicals into. That means if its in your wee, then your kidneys have successfully removed it from your body.

I'd be more worried if these trials were finding some other chemical that was the result of reactions that had happened between the glyphosate and other chemicals in there.

I wouldn't be surprised if Monsanto manipulated the findings or did the testing themselves. They're a horrible company. There's plenty of studies to see the real effects of their products after a bit of googling.

While I totally agree with your sentiments unless the world as a whole deals with the indiscriminate breeding of humans then there is little that can be done as humans need to feed altho not as much as many think they do especially in the Western World!
We have also become used to"perfect" crops with no spots/imperfections, even the size of fruit and vegetables now seems to have to be uniform or it's discarded.Or in the case of carrots, too big and some are pared down to be baby carrots!..."the eye of the beholder" and all that.
While in an ideal world there should be no weedkillers used in food production or chemicals pumped into the meat/fish/eggs we eat, if there wasn't I doubt there'd be enough food for the majority of us to be able to afford to eat. I was involved at the outset of Salmon fish farming, definitely better for the general public NOT to know what farmed fish are fed on, certainly it isn't what they feed on naturally in the wild.

 

Its one thing farmers using this sort of stuff under proper guide lines,but I live at the bottom of a hill and quite a few houses above us have slabbed gardens where their owners idea of gardening is "washing" the slabs with weedkiller and with some of the rain we have had of late this has got washed down to our vegetable patch and I can see the effect it has even made some of our chickens ill when they got a bit waterlogged.Of cause I can't prove this but there are some things you just know ain't right.
Respect nature and dont upset the balance otherwise nature will get its own back.

 

Clearly there is the argument: what is deemed "unacceptable" (and that is always debatable! )
Then, turning that argument on its head, it could equally be said: "it poses an "acceptable" risk to HH& E" (so then begs the question, "acceptable" by who's standards and at what level plus: who decides what that level is? The manufacturer, Governments, focus groups, individuals? )

I know everyone hates the chemical companies but can we actually live without them.
I use glyphosate a few times each summer, it makes my gardening easier.

The council actually sprays the weeds coming up through the pavements, chemicals are all around us.
