    Hi Everyone,

I'm very new to gardening as I've just bought my first property.

I have always loved Fuschias, so I bought a few a couple of days ago. I decided to go for a hardy variety (Tom Thumb and Mrs Popple) as I thought they may be more forgiving seeing as I'm not very experienced.

I have re-potted them in large terracotta pots and after just a couple of days. the petals have started turning very pale in some areas. I've attached pictures.

It was very hot yesterday and they were in the sunlight so I was wondering if they have been burnt or if something else was wrong like over watering?

I have now placed them in a more shady area.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Kevin

    Welcome to GC :)

It may also be the move, plants need a little settling in time :) I'd water them either at the soil level or a good water when the sun's off them so the leaves etc don't burn.

That looks like possibly water splashes, which ordinarily would not matter, but as we have our brief summer at the moment, the sun magnifies in strength through the water drops, and burns.

      Good morning Kevin,
welcome to Gardeners Corner. We all love newcomers on here and giving a helping hand where we can. The Fuchsia species is extensive and can become an addiction!! Your fuchsia youngsters will appreciate their move to shade. I hope that you enjoy wandering around the GC garden and we look forward to hearing about your plans for yours,

        Welcome to GC Kevin :sign0016:

It won't be that long til those blooms die and are replaced by new ones, and then it will only be a memory :). You are not alone, we all learn by our mistakes, and sure as apples are in cider, just when you think you are getting along swimmingly, mother nature will throw you a curve ball.

You'll get plenty of good advice from the clever people of GC though (I can only wish to be as good as they are!), and in between times there is some giggles to be had at the banter.

Best of luck with your new addictions!
