I've moved all of my toms out of the greenhouse today as they have leaf curl, it's just too hot in there and the sun is on it all day. My first tomato is ripening 'Golden Pearl'.

Oddly enough Sheal, its my outdoor toms that are suffering from leaf curl more than the indoor ones; our back garden is just a sun trap, and especially so on the 'veggie' side. My lettuces are all starting to look scabby as well, just too hot for them

I think the strong drying North easterly wind coupled with the high temperature may have something to do with it,

A good load of it, yes - I am toying with the idea of buying a dehydrator and a vacuum sealer so I can make them (amongst other things) into frozen components for sauce (thinking stews, bolognese etc)

And then there will be some given to neighbours, friends and maybe even the works canteen.

In all, I have around 30 plants. We (mostly Aunt Sally:)) will have no problem polishing them off:)

They are good for bartering...:dbgrtmb:. I'd swap toms for eggs or spuds.

Freddy, FC, I have 12 plants and that's twice as many as I usually grow, even then I struggle to get through them and usually give some away. :)

Bear in mind, I tend to grow toms that have good flavour, and not necessarily heavy croppers. Hence 8 of those plants are 'Sungold'. In fact, thinking about it, none of them are what I would call 'regular' toms.

Yeah, I think I am sitting with around 40 plants of various types at the moment; I'll invariably give quite a few away (as I will with the cucumbers etc) - nobody round here to barter with for spuds or eggs sadly; however, we are lucky to be blessed with wonderful neighbours, so its nice just to give them a wee something once in a while.

I will probably end up with the dehydrator and vaccum thingies too, as we have a huge freezer and its silly not to make the most of the garden and the freezer to reduce our expenditure whilst getting the best flavours

I think probably office colleagues will buy surplus if you have a glut FC?
To open a paper bag and smell fresh home grown tomatoes is one of the greater joys in life,

Maybe, but I am a bit of a softie Jenny, and am more inclined to give them away as a wee gift. I'm a great believer in what goes round comes round :imphrt:
