I was given this by a friend of mine (who yanked a piece out of her garden) but doesn't know what it is.

Since being given it, it has flowered and is a rather pretty little thing. Any help, advice and ID would be appreciated :)

Looks like Sedum to me. If so, it will pretty much look after it's self. They are good for green roof and wall growing.

My mother has had these for years, they're pretty easy to look after. Just a bit of water now and again really.

They're growing in the alley next door.. Must be very shallow rooted and drought tolerant because its just growing on neglected tarmac. Don't know what they're called though.

Certainly a Sedum and the full name escapes me for the moment.

            S. rupestre is as likely as anything.

With it's spruce-like foliage it could be Sedum Reflexum.

It took me a minute or two to interpret this. I was thinking does Spruce have foliage?

                    Er. S rupestre=S reflexum.
Still not sure as the flowers look wrong for this Sedum.
