what is your favourite movie?,that you have seen over the years, and why?. my favourite movie is , "gangs of new york".
2002 directed by martin scorsese. starring daniel day-lewis,leonardo di caprio, jim broadbent, just to mention a few.
great story line, plenty action, great special effects, great backdrops,. it is a film that you can watch over again, several times as there is so much going on in the crowd action ,that you tend to miss some of it on your first viewing. music.:gnthb::gnthb::gnthb:

This one is easy really for me, it was the first film I ever saw at the cinema.

The Star Wars trilogy-the original ones-the opening scene of The Empire Strikes Back-just brilliant.

As I have gotten older I have developed a real love of the Godfather trilogy aswell.

"Gangs of New York" is definitely a very good movie. I actually do not know which movie impressed me most. I think there are quite some movies which I really like but they are all different and I like them because of different purposes. The latest movie I have seen was "Inglourious Basterds" and I really liked the movie. First I thought I would not like it but after I have watched it I was surprised.

I probably have loads but I dont know what they are untill they are mentioned or due to be shown on TV.

Some that pop to mind are the three fugatives with Nic Nolte, I laughed out loud at this film but I found it touching at the same time.

The sea of love with Al Pachino.

    The getaway with Steve Mcqueen.

Some of these I would probably find dated now but at the time they were tops. 02

I can't say that I have a single favourite, but I thoroughly enjoyed 'Galaxy Quest' with Sigourney Weaver. I only have to think about it and it makes me laugh...

If anyone is going to the cinema-I can recommend District 9, it actually really surprised me.

I enjoy Galaxy Quest as well, plus any by Mel Brookes like Blazing Saddles, The Producers (original one of course!) and Young Frankenstein all make me laugh. I also like Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away and most of the Studio Ghibli films, although they are a bit weird. My all time favourite is Seven Samurai (the original 1954 Akira Kurosawa's Classic).

I also have lots of favourites but Shawshank Redemption has to be at the top.

There are so many that are sad, funny, bittersweet, you name it ... there's a lot of good viewing out there! :gnthb:
