Thought I better stop in here first and introduce myself. My name is Sue and I am in West Virginia. I have been 'planting flowers' for many years, however it has only been in the past 2 years that I have gotten serious about gardening (even a veggie garden, woo hoo!). I guess buying a new house on an acre of flat, un-landscaped land will do that to you. Lol. Anyway, I am looking forward to being part of the group and picking your collective brain from time to time. Thanks so much!

Welcome to Gardeners Corner Suescapades. :) At least on flat land there will be no mowing up hill! My daughter-in-law is West Virginian and it's a beautiful area that you live in.

The last pic is our garden in the back yard.

                        Ugly tomatoes this year:

I also have some flowers growing in the veggie garden. This was my first time growing flowers from seed and I have to admit that I just picked out some seed packets with pretty flowers pictured on the front. I didn't pay any attention to how big they would get. The plan was to start them in the garden and then transplant them to other areas around the yard once they got going. Well, some of them got going way before I could get get ME going... Lol

Cosmos is now taller than me (which doesn't really say much I suppose since I'm only 5 ft 3 in)

Four o'clocks that don't know how to tell time because it's after 4pm here and still closed up :(

Marigolds - still planning to move these if I don't kill them (accidentally, of course) before fall.

Mums just now popping out (I actually have these growing over half my front yard. My dad has a lawn care and landscaping business. He thought we needed some fill dirt in a low spot. Little did we know that the fill dirt came from a client's flower bed. Who wants to take a wild guess what the client was growing in that flower bed? Lol

                            ImageUploadedByTapatalk1376341227.874217.jpg

There are several other flowery 'things' growing in the garden but they aren't blooming yet so I'm not sure what is what.

Thank you, Sheal! I have been told by my neighbors that it is a River (aka Silver) Maple. They grow to be rather large trees. This is a picture of one in the yard across the street from us. Ours is not that tall yet - and never will be because the idea of a tree towering over my house like that makes me nervous. (I have had a tree come through my roof in the past so I'm sure you can imagine my fear.)

Thanks Sue. I guess it would make you nervous, perhaps you could have the crown taken off at some point to restrict it's height. :)
