We bought and planted in the border a Acer pseudoplatanus 'Brilliantissimum' about 10 years ago....it is about 10 foot tall now....the only problem is each Spring/Summers it is attacked by something and the leaves go a sort of mottled brown..
Any idea what the problem could be?
I have noticed this problem with others in different areas..

I have an Acer Brilliantissimum since the 90's and in the early years it suffered for several years with scorch from the Sun. The leaves turned black at the edges and curled, and there were also blotches on the leaves as well. I tried various methods but after several years the problem disappeared. I would try treating it when in bud burst with an anti-fungal spray to see if that will help. Do you have any pics of the affected leaves to see if it is similar to the problem I had.??:snork:

Hi Gaz, actually I don't think something has been eating the leaves. It's just that the brown scorches have decayed and fallen away.:dunno::snork:
