    Upgrade and new features 9/09

The system is undergoing some work. :yho:

    • The background coding was somewhat messed up but has been sorted so logging in issues should be resolved.
    • new seasonal skins are being made which will roll over as the year progresses but a skine selector will be in the UserCP/Edit Options so members will be able to stick with the old skin if they wish (least I think that's how it will be!)
    • site supporter/donate feature will be installed so members can contribute to the forum's running expenses. Additional perks would be a site supporter icon in their post and no Google ads!
    • You've seen the new photo gallery that's showing up top - that was a surprise to me, though I know Rich has that on one of his own forums.
    • New games
    • WYSIWYG editor available in Quick Reply and Edit Post boxes which has a smiley icon with a drop down menu instead of the box of smileys at the side
    • and there may be other things I haven't been told about yet! :o

You can revert to the old skin if you prefer and there are two places to do this:
    1. at the bottom of every page is a tiny drop down menu with all the skins to choose from
    2. go to UserCP > Edit Options > Forum Skin > change skin > Save changes. That way it will be permanent until you want to change it again!

"site supporter or donate feature ... perks would be ... and no Google ads!"

    I'm up for that!

How can you donate other than paypal. I don't have an account with them, and I don't want an account with them, but I want rid of the adverts.

I haven;t reviewed what has been set up yet (thought I'd let it settle rather than possibly be a donation in the middle of work-in-progress), but Paypal Donations normally let you flash a credit card, without having to have a Paypal account. Dunno if GC is/will be set up like that though. But I'm pleased that you (and hopefully others) feel that a donation is worthwhile

Can I suggest that the Donations are set up to allow additional selections for voluntary-over-donation (may only be sensible of the longest period (12 month))

Perhaps a few £5 increments on the current fee.

Just to say I think the donations are a great idea. Many sites use them now and if you are using a site most days then its great value for money anyway ... plus it means everything can be kept working correctly which in return is good for everyone :)

Keep us updated as to when to donate please

Donations are ok but don't like this "orrible" colour.

Yes, you can flash the plastic without an account. PayPal is user friendly that way. And it's still safe!

You can change the font colour by using the WYSIWYG editor, which, as you can see, is now available in the Quick Reply box.

Oooorrr .... you can revert to the original skin via the teeny drop down menu at the bottom of the page. If you want to make the change permanent you can do it in Edit Options in your UserCP.

I'm happy with donating :thmb: and shall do it when I return.

Like walnut, I'm not keen on the orange colour so have reverted back to the old style. :) :old:

I like the new banner but I'm also happy with the old one.

Although I'm unlikely to use many of the new features offered I would like to congratulate you on running a friendly and efficient site with a great choice of features :gnthb:. Other sites are very boring in comparison.

Want to know something? I'm back on the old skin as well! I am finding it difficult to read the orange text but that's why we have a choice!

Rich the 'New Posts' have been changed to only display the threads left unread, can we have the read ones in the New Posts summary again if possible as it makes finding them easier from a central location. ?
