      the power at which they cut through the branches gradually over 5 minutes got so weak that they wont even move now. they have more than give us our money worth. They are older than me lol

        27 years service isn't bad at all to be fair; my lawnmower can't be much more than a couple of years old and it is starting to give up already!

        I think things from back then were more simple inside, so there was less to go wrong and they lasted so much longer.

          Although it has given good service it's always sad to see a favourite tool go to that toolkit in the sky. :sad:

          I have a 24" Black and Decker that's still going strong after 35 years :blue thumb: and my motor mower must be at least 25 years old. I always talk to them nicely! :snork:

            Had a look inside shortly after my last post last year and it looks like the carbon brushes have ran out, easy enough to fix (after finding the right brushes) but I think they have long been due their retirement. Anyhow I bought their replacement the other day. lets hope these bad boys last just as long.
