Hi Everone, i am new to this site and started looking as i dont know much about log cabins but really want one for a bit of me space. I have been looking around and cant afford lots and lots like some of the ones that are custom built. they are well expencive like £40,000, am looking to spend less than 3 grand. I also wanted to ask if i should buy shingles or not? idoes it just make it look better or will it really protect it.

    Any help would be apprecated

    Thanks

    James

    Hi and welcome to GC.

Depending on how big you want this cabin, you can get some decent looking ones from the likes of B&Q, and even Argos. Such places don't actually stock them, they just have a catalogue of ones from some Norwegian company that makes them, and they act as resellers.

Here's an example, but there are more in the range:

i really want a 5mx5m or 6mx5m, i got a garden shed from Argos a bit ago and then found it cheaper on other peoples site, as this is a big purchace i would like to go to a person that ether makes them or at least stocks them.

Thanks for you quick post reply,

I also have another question will i be able to use it in the winter if i only get 28mm walls or should i go for thicker ones?

    Thanks

I know this is an old Thread but I was also looking for Log Cabins and came across these that I'm going look into using as a Rehearsal/Performance space down the bottom of my garden.

Does anyone know of anymore because obviously I would like to shop around and compare prices.

    Hi there and Welcome.

We have a log cabin as our garden shed, and i love it, ours is made out of cedar, and it came with shingles, although we took them off and replaced them with what was on our roof, so that it all matched.

    Again.......welcome.

What about getting somebody to build a cabin from scratch?
    Would it be any cheaper?
I would ask a timber merchant for advice.
