This bit is not at all funny, I was very saddened to see that a young lad accidentally killed himself last week in a Halloween prank

They're only just putting them out??!!

Our local garden centre had their display out in full including Santa's grotto about 3-4 weeks ago!!!!!, we were in the middle of the heat wave!!!!!!

 

Not to worry.....soon be Summer

Christmas isn't permitted to start until the first week of December here That's quite soon enough. Although the 'illuminated plastic snowman' brigade seem to sneak in a few extra days each year

 

Went to home bargains this morning and they had all the chrimmy paraphernalia in, selection boxes, decs, the lot! I love chrimmy and I was tempted to buy some selection boxes though........

 

All overhyped.

To line the pockets of all company directors, et al.

I ever overspend at Christmas, it galls me to see people pushing 1,2,or even 3 trollies of food and drink, for what will be only a couple of days, half of which will probably end up in landfill.

I buy what I need in November, and freeze what I can.

I get my cards written at the beginning of December, cheques enclosed, as whatever you buy is not what they want/wrong size/already got.

We then, spend a couple of days with the OH's nephew, and that is the holiday over.

I, though not overly religious, think that people have lost sight of the real reason for Christmas.

So now I will get off my wooden box, and sip my bitter shandy, and see what's that square box in the corner.

 

I have to agree, and no humbug here.

A lot of the meaning of Christmas has been lost, perhaps that is because the Event, is pushed down our throats for far too long these days.

As a youngster I remember Christmas was mentioned just after Bonfire Night, and then preparations began in December ('Birds' ordered, decorations dusted off etc...) not until a week before the big day did trees go up and did Christmas come alive.

It is just a commercial festival these days.

 

I can't do that......I'd only eat them NOW!!!
