Something In The Sky

    hi all, its 5 am and im watching this bright light above cullercoats bay, was thinking star no its too big its sort of glistening and was thinking police helicopter it cant be its staying in one place not moving and iff it was i would of heard its sound, cant keep my eyes off it, doubt i would get a good pic of it from here were im sitting, what could it be any ideas.very intriguing this

    took these pics when i took the picture i could see it and when i uploaded the pics this is all i got.still watching it its sort of flashing very slightly like a flicker

    Which direction was it Rosa if it was east it would possibly be Venus it is very bright these mornings the flashing can be caused through atmospheric conditions.

    hi walnut this is amazing it will be east, i just went out earlier on to take photos and what did i see the moon in the same direction got some pics and i got pics of the sunrise never ever have i got photos like them in my area, goa india i did but never here i will put some pics up.

    thanks walnut so do you think it could of been the moon this morning and would that flicker when it was dark

    The moon at that time this morning Rosa would have been nearly south south west, on Fri morning it will be a waning gibbous moon (half full moon)and be due south.
    Flickering is usually caused through atmospheric conditions called inversions (temperature fluctuations) which distorts the image you see,it's a bit of a nuisance when you are looking through a telescope.

    thats interesting walnut, i only seen that light flicker in the house when i was watching it, when i went for my walk down on the bay never seen it flicker, took pics of the sun rising for a while and it was getting light and when i turned around south facing thats when i seen the half moon and got these pics

    Great images, Rosa. Seems to me that you're going to be taking up astronomy on top of everything else. Don't forget to leave some room for your allotment when you get it.

    thanks strawman, pics could be better thats walnut and woos department they get better pics than me haha, maybe they could add their pics here, the allotment that will take some time to get wish now i had put my name on the list a lot earlier
