So, so sorry to hear you've had a bit of a relapse: especially as it is stress induced by the sounds of it :grphg:

Hope your "discussion" resulted in 'patches, not matches' for you clue!

My "official" quit date is happening on Monday (4th) :fingers crossed:

I'm in 'interesting times' at the moment, but just the other day, while stopped on the way home, standing looking over the Scaling reservoir at dusk, and enjoying a smoke, it dawned on me that I actually have a good life overall. I have a nice house where I want it, a lovely wife, two lovely kids, friends, and a job that I love.

The discussion with the bank went better than I'd hoped, and really is nothing to worry about. Although I did still buy more baccy, but, only because I was down to dust and it was friday evening, and I wanted to enjoy the weekend. So, I took the decision that I'll not quit until after the weekend. It will be easier that way anyway because I don't come out of the office to smoke, so on a work day I have a couple in the morning, a couple on my lunch break, then several when I get home. Whereas at the weekend when I have more time and energy, I tend to smoke loads more and with less to concentrate on, I notice the cravings more. If I quit on a work day I wont notice while I'm actually in work, and when I get home I'm usually tired enough to just chill out and will be less tempted to nip outside.

So on that note, "M", I reckon I might be joining you on a Monday quit day. Good luck to you, and good luck to me:)

Taking an old telly to the tip, I was careless in the way I loaded up. Went round a corner, BOOM, telly through the side window.

                            Ooops!

Still, that is a fairly easy fix, and shouldn't be overly costly if you get the new glass from a breakers?

I take it that the rubbers are still intact?

And further to that, you will need Automotive Butyl Tape, and a good scraper (the ones you put the Stanley blades in are the best for this sort of job).

Before scraping the old adhesive off, I would strongly advise applying a double layer of wide masking tape all around the area to prevent paint scratches; clean the glass before you put it in, and wipe round the edges with an alcohol wipe (isopropyl is best, but methylated will do just as well), letting it dry fully before you put it in.

I just bit the bullet and phone autoglass. I'm insured fully comp so its just my excess that I've lost.

I know autoglass are overpriced, but it was surprisingly little hassle. I phoned them, got through to a human (amusingly called Osmond with a very posh voice:) ) very quickly. He took the reg number and my name and address and just had all the info in front of him. I didn't even have to look for my insurance documents. Unfortunately, as I suspected because there aren't that many Volvo 940s left, the piece of glass isn't in stock, but they'll have it by Wednesday they said, and they're coming to my work to do it.

For now, the window is botched up. Lucky for me my mate came round and he knew of some super strong tape called Gorilla tape, which fortunately was in stock at the local petrol shop, so between that and an old heavy duty sack, the window is temporarily sealed.
