Haha Marley, when it's somebody elses it is hillarious!! The stems are getting quite thick higher up, but I'm finding that the base of the stems has hardly thickened at all. Whereas this never seems to matter with cabbages and caulis etc...it is a bit of a problem with these guys. I firmed them in pretty deep too!
Also, how come I seem to no longer be able to post icons through my threads any more??! :(

Funnily enough we were discussing tonight whether we should be eating the leaves, does seem a waste. I've been throwing them over into next door's garden for their chickens and rabbits. Might try one or two this week.

Julie, I think you must get them staked up. With the rain on them they are very top heavy.

We had a couple of the smaller leaves tonight with our dinner, and they were very nice gently boiled with a bit of pepper.

That'll make your wig lovely and silky John:heehee:

They weren't bad at all as far as Cabbage goes. I think it the smell that puts me off, I can't smell very well due to an accident with evo stick when I was younger, but I can smell Cabbage cooking:help:

          Heres mine on Sunday,

          Think you are winning John.

I know what you mean about the smell of cabbages when they are being boiled, it's not pleasant. I'm not keen on the smell of brassicas growing when it's raining either, all those big rape fields smell awful.

            Your's is doing well Ziggy.

Mine are starting to get middle aged spread, so you are still in with chance:

I've stripped off more leaves tonight so the pot belly doesn't get any worse, but I don't know if that will work.

Thank Glod for the Evo Stick accident:DOH:

That is a bit of a bulge there John, don't think its a disqualifiying one though:D

Yes they smell when they are wet out in the fields Ziggy, quite strong, enough to smell them when driving past in a car.

I might regret asking this but what happened to the evo stick?

              :loll::loll::loll:

I take my hat off to you lot eating the leaves, I wouldn't like to get smacked across the face with the ones on mine, they're like leather! I'll have to try a couple.

My walking stick is a contender for the shortest and thickest. Whatever happens I'm still varnishing it next year...

I accidentally got addicted to it for a year:DOH:They've taken the 111trichloroethane out of it now & it still sticks, so why did they have to put an addictive hallucinogen in it in the first place:DOH:

Hmmm..my cabbages seem to have stopped growing...and I've no idea why when everything else is whizzing along. Stuck at around 3 foot, great walking stick for a kid..
