As an add on to my above entry. There were times where we traveled we did take our German S. with us. But it takes some planning. To make sure the place we stay is dog friendly, and then in USA, most restaurants will not allow a dog inside. So we either find an outside restaurant to have our meal at, then the dog can be with you at your feet, or park the car and go inside. And then that was another issue, to make sure we parked the car in "shade" if it was hot outside, so the dog would not get too hot, of course windows down some. Because of the latter, I favored traveling with him in the cooler months, so not to worry about the heat and car thing.
There is a book out called---Vacationing with your pet----It covers all the USA and Canada. Maybe there is a book or listing like this for your area.

Luckily my parents take care for my pets. I now it is very difficult to find one you can trust. I actually do not know what I would do if I would not have my parents. They always take care and my pets also love them.

I own a cat and a corn snake.

When we arrange to go away for a week or two my brother in-law house sits and looks after them.

The cat is fed twice a day (morning and evening). If we go away for a week I will usually feed the snake before we go, that way she will be ready for her next feed when we get back, if its for more than a week I'll feed her before we go and my brother in-law will give her another feed in 7 days from me leaving.
