New Laptop

Always good when you get a new computer , everything is much quicker as it has not accumulated years of junk files.
Once you get it up and running I would be interested to know how compatible it is with old programmes, I have seen conflicting opinions as to whether or not old programs will run. I have an old copy of Microsoft Office that does everything I need but am not sure if it is compatible with Windows 8..

On Tuesday we popped in to see Queenie - yes that's her official chistened name. She's still bright as a button at 92 and had just placed an online Asda grocery shopping order on her new 'puter. The old one was a cast off from a grandson and it was going too slow. So, she ordered a new one on grandson's advice and is getting there. "It's got Windows 8 on it " she said "it's different but I am finding my way around".
What a inspirational she is. Hope I'm like that at her age,

We have 3 laptops running Win8 and 1 with Win7 and I now struggle with Win7.

But give me something running XP and I'll know everything about an obsolete system that isn't supported any more.

Says somebody who used 1.0x
