New Laptop

    I had to purchase a new laptop tp day as my old laptop packed up on me,so after much deliberation (3 days of searching and asking friends)I decided on this one:)

      Always good when you get a new computer , everything is much quicker as it has not accumulated years of junk files.
      Once you get it up and running I would be interested to know how compatible it is with old programmes, I have seen conflicting opinions as to whether or not old programs will run. I have an old copy of Microsoft Office that does everything I need but am not sure if it is compatible with Windows 8..

        On Tuesday we popped in to see Queenie - yes that's her official chistened name. She's still bright as a button at 92 and had just placed an online Asda grocery shopping order on her new 'puter. The old one was a cast off from a grandson and it was going too slow. So, she ordered a new one on grandson's advice and is getting there. "It's got Windows 8 on it " she said "it's different but I am finding my way around".
        What a inspirational :star:she is. Hope I'm like that at her age,

          Good evening Lawnman and Jenny and thank you for your posts.I will check the the Microsoft Office for you Lawnman,Jenny Windows 8 is different but Queenie (bless her) I am sure will soon get round it, her incorrigible and resolute determination, will see her right;)
          I had to download 75 updates before I even started but its been most challenging and enjoyable:)

            We have 3 laptops running Win8 and 1 with Win7 and I now struggle with Win7.

            But give me something running XP and I'll know everything about an obsolete system that isn't supported any more.

            Says somebody who used 1.0x
