Thanks for that Woo, I keep getting a message on my Win 8 PC asking if I want to download 8.1 and kept ignoring it. It's for free I understand so I'll let it go ahead thanks for the tip off.

I am still running XP at home and at the office , although the company are updating to Windows 7 professional . I like XP it works and is reliable . The first PC I worked on was in the late 80's an IBM XT running MS-DOs 5.0 with 1 mb of memory total ! I have just bought an external hard-drive with 320 GB of memory for £32 , a big change in just 25 years !

XP was the last good Windows OS, our old works PCs ran XP. Then IT upgraded and it all turned to moo-poo...!

Still a happy bunny running XP - does all I really need and lots I don't. I'm reluctant to upgrade the two tower systems as I've I've got some radio and other stuff hooked up that works on XP but is a bit doubtful on more recent versions of Windows.
I do have a netbook running Win7 but it's a pain in the bum and cluttered with stuff I neither need nor want. I could have gone for Win8 but that's even more bloated given that it was really designed for touch-screen.
I've no complaints about the increased computing power and speeds and love it, but there's now so much clutter and trash with each new evolution of OSs.:old::old:

XP was a good un. It's a pity Microsoft tinkered with it

I installed 8.1 and haven't really noticed any difference, it said the 'start button' is back, but I thought I had that already :what: I am running a desktop PC without a touch screen so I think I'm not getting the full benefit of Windows 8 anyway.

BTW: I've got Windows 8 on my smartphone which I quite like :blue thumb:

They removed the Start button, to mass uproar, and quickly reinstated it :)
