    I think so. I didn't go round the shops in Whitby because the weather was awful, but in an interesting twist, I was chatting to my boss about it today, and she mentioned that her other half makes and sells jewellery made of Whitby jet and silver, and he makes it to order, with a choice of existing design or entirely bespoke, all at a fraction of the shop prices. So an idea struck. I'll let wife choose for herself:) She's already got a few items as I mentioned earlier, and certainly more than she'll be expecting. None of it is sharing stuff (with the possible exception of the chocs), and none of it is 'mammy' stuff, but rather hot girlie stuff, to hopefully remind her of who she was before we had kids.

            No idea - probably one of those things where somebody will have complained once about the skin being on and yet nobody complains about it being off;

              For significant occasions I've had jewellry made. Found a solo craftsman with a good reputation, went into the local high street jewelers to check what the going rate was, and then found that what the craftsman offered me was way more for the same price, not to mention his skill in choosing really good quality stones. I had an eternity ring made some years ago, high street shops had 3 or 5 stones, nothing like the layout/design I wanted, and no flexibility (they were just inserting stones into pre-made "ring blanks") the craftsman built the ring up from scratch, just how I wanted it, with stones all-around-the-ring for the same price, and much nicer quality, and bigger stones, than the high street shop.

                so I came around here to see the outcome of the gift. I see you left the wife chose for herself. Be honest with you Clueless, as a women, I would expect my husband after "how many years" to have an understanding in the type of style I like and have the ability to pick it. It then to me because kinda a double gift, that he one: pays attention to what I like and two can go out and find it.

                      Hard one and so many interesting suggestions. I got mine a pair of varifocal glasses and set her right for contact lenses, you can't get more romantic than that ;-)
