Thanks everyone for the comments :) Much appreciated

Joolz, on that side of the shed every tile was nailed down to avoid any slipping, hopefully it wont be a problem! I havent yet been in for a swim, maybe in the summer :)

Well thank you Gaz for wasting my entire day yesterday reading your blog lol

All looks excellent but I do have questions now - who sent you those plants in boxes and just what does the inside of the house look like after the refurbishment?!

        More questions :
how many Koi do you have?
        How old?
        Do they/will they breed?
How safe ( apart from the :cat-kittyandsmiley:) are they from a prying member of the public?
They must be worth a fair bit Gaz, Are they insurable against mishaps?
        thank you,
        Jenny

The gift of ginkgos was from a good friend of ours, who did not want us to publicly name. We were very touched.

We have shown some pics of the inside - http://www.alternativeeden.com/2013/12/where-light-floods-in.html a few more may make it onto the blog eventually :)

We have about 15-20 koi - i dont actually know how many, but id miss one if it wasnt there. The oldest we have had for about 5 years, maybe a little longer. Although they would have been at least a year old at that point.

None of ours are particularly valuable, most have been grown on by ourselves in the old pond first to get them to a good size. We very much consider them pets rather than fish to show for prizes or otherwise so many have what would be considered flaws, but we love them all the same! The pond is well tucked away from prying eyes and the garden is reasonably secure. Im sure they would be insurable, although I suspect the cost would be prohibitive. In terms of medical treatment we have had to learn a lot of the basics to treat them ourselves.

Koi can breed but you need to be set up for it as the others tend to eat the eggs

Thank you for that Gaz. Are they tame enough to hand feed?

Not quite, but i suspect a couple of them would take to it if we tried a bit more often

Gaz, I asked for pics of the pond some time ago but it wasn't finished. Now you have and I almost missed the thread.:wallbanging:
Absolutely amazing and I've spent another hour or so going through all the previous work.
You and Mark have excelled yourselves.:dbgrtmb::dbgrtmb::dbgrtmb:

Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the comments!

Hopefully this year can have lots more time sat watching the fish rather than making them a new home!
