Thanks, Moyra, but I don't think you would have liked the heat. Most mornings, by 8 a.m., it was already in the 80'sF and by lunchtime it was in the mid 90's. It was exceptionally hot, even for them!

We still had a brilliant time but couldn't get as much walking in as we would have liked. Of course, the upside was that, during the day, it was too hot to go wandering around the streets window shopping :blue thumb: (I hate window shopping! :heehee:).

    Aloha Moyra and everyone,

We picked up our dead chili plants yesterday :frown:. We'll give them a bit of tlc to see whether they recover! (Note to self: get someone else to look after them next year!)

The sun is coming up now so it looks like another sunny day :blue thumb:

Keep well and have a great day

    Good morning everyone,

I hope everyone is on form...:dbgrtmb:

Shiney ....That's a shame:frown:....If my Nagas germinate successfully you know you're more than welcome to a couple:dbgrtmb: I'd be lost without my Dad looking after things when i go away as no one else i know has any interest what so ever in gardening/plants so even leaving instructions i'd be stumped....
Also... how's your BIL getting on after his accident? well i hope:dbgrtmb:

We had some really heavy rain here last night but up comes the sun again:SUNsmile:...we're not doing so bad up here with the weather in comparison to whats been happening elsewhere in the country lately:phew:....

Waves to all, have a great day and take care:SUNsmile:

      Morning everyone,

Its sunny here and not as cold, and no new snow!!!! Which is fine with me.

We had a busy weekend, but we did start on Natalie's old room, which will become our new room, washed down the walls, filled all the holes and cracks, and primed the walls, need to go and get the ceiling paint today, we both totally forgot about it yesterday when we picked up all the other paint. It'll be a couple weeks yet before we start in on the living room wall, and take it down, plus we need to move upstairs first.

Off to pick up the paint, and something at the post office that came for me on Friday, and I want to plant some more seeds today too...so enjoy your day everyone.

      Hi Loli,

BIL is not doing too badly. He's under treatment by two surgeons (orthopaedic for his crushed pelvis and another for his spinal injuries) and a neurologist because of the damage to his spinal chord. He is now home and walking, very carefully, with a frame.

The person he was sharing a room with in the hospital was driving him mad and the food was awful. The first thing he did when he got home was to order a Vindaloo! :heehee:

        Good morning everyone,

Shiney, your BIL sounds like he's doing so well considering the extent of his injuries, wishing him well:dbgrtmb:....it's funny..that's the first thing i ordered after a stay in hospital:heehee:....

Woo,hope all is well in the Woo's nest:dbgrtmb:

It's a drizzly one this morning, just been to check the 'girls'...Poppy chook is having a bit of trouble again in the egg laying department:doh:so it's another steam bath for her today...she nodded off yesterday when she was having one:rolleyespink:
Theo is going for his check up today and i want to sort out with the Vet about his food,i think it will be a bit of trial and error at first but anything to stop him itching and not having to be pumped full of tablets:thumbsup:

There were two foxes in the garden last night 'playing' but it is that time of the year...i do wish they'd be a little more discreet:rolleyespink:....

Hope alls well with Moyra,Lili,Jaz ,Penny et al:thumbsup:

Have a great day and take care:SUNsmile:

        Aloha everyone,

Loli, are you saying that Poppy has a regular sauna? I hope she gets over this as well as last time and I wish Theo better. :blue thumb:

We're just starting off some new seeds of our chilli plants. These are the very small, very hot chillies that we've been growing for years. We have given a lot of friends the seeds and they have trouble getting them to grow to healthy plants. If we managed to grow enough of them (we only keep four or five) I might have them on sale on Open Day. :)

It's a lovely sunny morning but rain is forecast for this afternoon.

I think I'm going to have to declare war on the badgers - or whoever is doing the damage in my garden :paladin:. I'll give the 'smelly' deterrent another chance now that I'm back but if that doesn't work, then the gloves come off!!! They're now attacking two areas. One is down in the wild area and doesn't matter too much but they've now started on the main lawn.

          Good morning everyone,

          I hope everyone is OK:dbgrtmb:

Shiney...i wonder 'who' it is that's spoiling your lawn?....at one point i had the same problem but it was foxes ,we don't have any Badgers round here...we found out by rigging up a light with a movement sensor on it and spent many a night watching and waiting just to satisfy my curiosity :blue thumb:...

It's a yucky wet morning here but not cold so that's a bonus....:blue thumb:

Just time for a quick cuppa then off to work..

Take it easy everyone and take care:SUNsmile:

            Aloha everyone,

Loli, I'm pretty sure it's not foxes as they may do the occasional bit of digging but they're unlikely to do that much. Those photos are of the area where all the GC members were sitting! As it's pretty solid ground I don't think foxes would bother but badgers are more likely to dig for grubs there.

There's not much going on in the garden but we'll do a bit more cutting back and I've got some more conifers to be brought lower by about 15ft.

I'm, currently, writing and editing text for some classes I'll be running this year; have a speech to write for the Dinner Dance we've got on Thursday evening, doing some of the organising for a supper and quiz in three week's time, planning a birthday dinner on Sunday for one of Mrs Shiney's friends, and have three more meetings this week. Apart from that, I don't have a great deal to do. :heehee:

I'm off for my regular visit to the chiropodist this morning so my size 12's should be in good condition by this afternoon. :snork:

Keep well and have a great day

            Aloha!

            Good morning everyone,

I hope everyone is on form:dbgrtmb:

Shiney...i was looking up about foxes/badgers and lawn damage..:hate-shocked: between them if anyone wants their lawn 'lifting' they certainly make short work of it between them:doh:the damage is very similar ....I did read where Badgers will dig and scratch for chafer grubs and the likes but they don't dig for worms...they suck them out of the ground....i'm sure your damage is done by a Badger though...besides you'd probably smell where a fox has been anyway....I hope you manage to to get to the root of it:dbgrtmb:

Another night of heavy rain here,it's getting very soggy out there:doh:

            Work time again...Hi Ho:whistle:

            Waves to all...
