Not wishing to hijack @Zigs' thread any further, I thought I'd start a new thread for this.

Here is BBC Top Gear showcasing the legendary Reliant Robin. This cracked me up.

Why on earth did they ever design (and build) that misery?
First of all how much saving is actually achieved by leaving out one wheel and secondly 2 wheels in the front and one at the back would make for a much more stable configuration.
But then again we wouldn't have clips like these. :snork:

As regards hijacking Zigs thread, my apologies, simply got side tracked.
As a mod/admin, can you not move those posts here?

      EDIT:

Or alternatively delete them? I would not take any offense to those posts of mine being deleted.

It's cleverly done :blue thumb: and it reminds me why I never did buy one :lunapic 130165696578242 5:. A couple of friends of mine bought them, rolled them about once or twice a year and are still alive to tell the tale.

Mind you, they were never the sharpest knives in the drawer! :heehee:

While stationed at R.A.F. Abingdon, I had two. One was a van and they got me to Hullavington each weekend. Yep, I rolled one and survived.

        Cheers, Tony.

There was sound logic in the design. It comes down to a quirk of the vehicle licensing that has since been changed.

The Reliant Robin was, as far as your license was concerned, a motorbike and side car. Disable reverse gear and you could even drive one at 16 years old on a provisional moped license. So in effect, it was a motorbike that kept you dry in bad weather.

That clip has to be one of my favourite Top Gear "experiments".
