    Hi All,

New to the forum so just thought I'd start a diary of what I'm upto. I'm just about to put in some raised beds in the lawn. Not sure what size yet but here's a photo of the patch I'm using.

We've also got a greenhouse with some bits and bobs in at the moment.

The only other thing, besides a few herbs, is the rubharb.

Hopefully by this time next year we should have a lot more.

Welcome Dan, your greenhouse crops look very good, you have a lot packed in there, you will be eating those aubergines soon.

So what are the plans for the raised bed, more veggies? I see you have some planks and its a nice sized area.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm thinking I'd like to grow my favorite veg to eat which is brocolli, sweetcorn, spinach and beans. Maybe some onions and garlic too. I'm sure there will be others but not sure what at the moment.

Has anyone any advice about what type of soil I should be getting to fill the beds with?

Its depends on what budget you have got. If you want to keep costs down I'd create the raised beds by digging out the soil from the paths and adding bags of soil improver or your own compost if you have any. The expensive option is to buy in topsoil, you can get good quality loam delivered in ton bags, you'll be surprised how much you need.
