'Do wives ever listen?' Yes, we do! We have to have selective hearing just like you males, a necessary evil when you've got the demands of a family to deal with. Whatever is said is all taken on board and then prioritised or discarded depending on importance.

My missus is evil. She said yesterday that she was doing chops for tea today, so I've been looking forward to chops since then.

The ritual is, I eat my own chops, including the lovely full flavoured fatty bits, then I win the fatty bits off the chops that wife and lad have. But no, clearly she does sometimes listen after all. She has obviously become aware that I'm on a diet, so having enjoyed my chops, I did the ritual question, "anyone got any scratty bits they don't want?" and waited expectantly, only for wife to reply "I cut the fatty bits off our and put them in the bin".

She's lovely really, I wouldn't swap her for the world, but she isn't half confusing at times. Still, in the wise words of my 5 year old lad, you know what womans are like.
