Has anyone tried growing Fuchsia arborescens. I am growing some from seed - but they are still quite small. I hope they will flower this year.

I know that they are not hardy and I will have to keep them under glass over the winter. My question is will frost free be sufficient or do they need a higher minimum temperature?

Hi Peter, this is one I have not grown but Burncoose nurseries say it may be damaged at temperatures below 5c,I have always found minimum temperatures a bit flexible if you keep the plants fairly dry at the roots.

Thanks Walnut. I have several plants, so can afford to experiment a bit. But I had been thinking that with at least one I should store it with your Brugmansias at a minimum of 5C.

The problem, of course, will be space. :usr:

By the way Datura 'Belle Blanche' has started to flower - its beautiful. I think an even nicer flower, with that tinge of blue, than D. innoxia.
