Hi. There is a white blossom tree at the end of the street, its in a council run car park so can't ask the owners but I suppose I could ask the council if I need to. But someone here might be able to help me. The flowers are 5-petal with what looks to be a single style surrounded by many yellow-headed stamens. At the very bottom ends of the stamens the corolla is red, and the green sepals are also tinged red around the edges. Could it be a cherry blossom? Almond blossom? So to sum up it is 5 petalled, very white save for slight tinge of red at the base but you have to peer in hard to see this. Flowers are small, surface size of a 5P piece I'd say. Thanks.

Can you take a photograph? Might help the knowledgeable people on here help identify it more accurately.

My guess would be Mirabel Plums, Sloes or Damsons. These are all coming into blossom locally.

Here's a close-up of some cherry/plum blossom on one of the trees in the garden where I work. It seems to quite closely match your description.

I took this photo a couple of years ago, can't remember which tree is was now. :doh:I'll have a look around this week and see if I can spot the tree in question so I can give you a positive ID. :blue thumb:

I went looking for cherry plum blossom yesterday afternoon but the local hedgerow with about 100 bushes in has been cut, grrrrrrrrr, 3 years to wait for plums within walking distance now.

@SimonZ when they start to fall is usually a sign they're ripe Put a plastic sheet under the tree and then use a long stick with a big hook on the end to shake them down, use for fresh fruit, jam, plum chutney and wine.

Well if it is a council car park I would strongly thinking a Winter Flowering Cherry..

They are in flower now and come in pink or white.. A favourite council tree in a lot of places.. Otherwise it maybe a Damson but would think not if on council land..
