Loli, sorry to hear about your great aunt. It's difficult trying to find a home but there are some things that you can look for or ask about.

Some years ago I did a bit of an analysis of what to look for when trying to find a home. It was for the son of an acquaintance of mine who was looking for a home for her. I can send it to you if you want. Of course, the costs are now astronomical!

I am pleased to say I uncovered all the fuschias from last years tubs and find them all shooting so not bad managing to keep them all. Normally to keep anything like that you need a glasshouse and a frost state heater in it. but not this year am very pleased. Have a good afternoon all. God bless.

          Aloha everyone,

Don't worry, Woo, you'll grow up one day :blue thumb: :)

It appears that we have over a week of dry weather to look forward to so I'm leaving the weeding for a while for the ground to dry out a bit. I'll be tidying things up instead.

We're taking a couple of friends out for lunch today as it's his 80th birthday.

I've just got the posters for Open Day sorted and they should be printed and delivered to me soon. I've got it in pdf so I can send it by email as well. We do our own Word document about it (much cheaper for us to print hundreds) and give them out to every club and group we belong to.

It was a bit sunny earlier this morning but has turned windy and dull. I did 'a Loli' earlier on and went out there with not a lot on to sort out the bird feeder. Some enterprising bird had knocked the fat cake onto the ground and the crows and magpies were taking an interest. They took one look at me and flew! :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

          Have a great day

          Aloha!

              Good morning everyone,

Woo ...fabulous sunrise:wub2:.....there's always a Kid in us some where Woo;)...take Shiney for instance...running round the garden in his 'altogether'...i'm sure you didn't scare the birds away Shiney they probably just went to tell their mates:biggrin::thumbsup:.....at least i have my jim jams on when i do a circuit round the garden:heehee:....

Moyra...hope the rain holds off while you've taken Amber out:doggieshmooze:...it's torrential here at the moment:doh:....

Re ..Gt Aunt....:fingers crossed: there is a bed available at a lovely place just round the corner from me...her son just has to sort out the formalities now....It's more difficult from an emotional aspect than it is to find a place , working in the 'business' for along time you get to know the good and not so good places.....sadly there are far too many 'not so good'....i'll never understand how the Quality Care Commission work out what's good and what's bad because my opinions just don't tally with them at all:nonofinger:

              Waves to all...

Have a great day and take care:SUNsmile:

              Morning all

Beautiful day here, though the sunrise was not as spectacular as Woo's stunning photo. I'm just surprised I was up early enough to see it. Still, it means I got the washing out, dogs walked and breakfast done so the day is now all mine to do what I want with.

Pleased your Great Aunt has a nice place to go Loli. You're right, it's the emotional aspect that's so hard. My Dad's not quite at that stage yet but it's going to come and I'm not looking forward to that day.

              Enjoy the birthday lunch Shiney.

That's good news re the fuschias Moyra. I always think I've killed mine off but somehow they come back year on year.

Right, back out in the garden for the day.

Have a fun and productive day everyone.

Loli, I wasn't running around nude! I had my pants on - otherwise the birds would have been laughing instead of flying away :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

When they brought in the new rules for residential and nursing homes, some years ago, I sent a report to the Inspectorate pointing out some of the defects in their assumptions. The main problem being that they thought 50% of staff having NVQ's would be sufficient to assure quality.

A lot of homes lost some of their best and most experienced staff because they didn't want to have to do NVQ's. NVQ's are good but only show that the person can work to that level - which isn't very high. The quality of their work, their empathy and caring, and their willingness to work is not really measured.

Nowadays, it's all a matter of ticking boxes! :nonofinger:

                    Good morning Woo and all,

                    Got my smile on Woo:thumbsup:

Shiney...i totally agree....it's all well and good ticking boxes and having NVQ'S rammed down our throats to which i 'passed level 3'after working there for 25 years:rolleyespink: then the 'funds' ran out:doh:...they seem to be too concerned with what's written on pieces of paper instead of checking that it's actually being put into practice !!!.....i can feel my hackles rising just thinking about it....:gaah:
It strikes me they don't seem to care who they employ these days just so long as there is enough staff on each shift to legally cover the occupancy levels ....:mute:

It looks like we're all in for some lovely weather this weekend:dancy:....Enjoy it everyone:dbgrtmb:

Quick cuppa then i'm off to do my bit for King and country:blue thumb:

Have a lovely day everyone and take care:SUNsmile:

                      Aloha everyone,

Loli, I came on here shortly after you and then the site went down! What did you do to it? :heehee:

It's extremely dull out there at the moment but it will clear up later this morning if it follows yesterday's pattern. We ended up with a very sunny day.

                      Have a great day

                      Aloha!
