Actually it's very interesting that about the Wind Whisperers and the use of the Navajo language during WWII.

Busy reading more about the Wind Whisperers and the more I read the more fascinating it is.
I wonder who first twigged onto the idea that the language is so unique that the Japanese would have no chance at understanding it, so sent messages in the "open".

If we are ever in the unfortunate position of needing to fight another world war (next week perhaps), we could just get the average teenager to handle comms. I don't think anyone except another teenager from the same postcode would be able to decipher that.

I watch a lot of British TV so have gotten used to the accent and slang used in many parts of the UK.
The other day I was watching a program called "The world's Strictest Parents" where troubled teenagers are sent to other countries to hopefully better themselves, and have to say that I couldn't understand a word they were saying.
They just as well could have been talking in Martian.

First time I ever saw *this* type of "art" it was called: "type writer" art! I went to an Army Open Day and the Signals Regiment were show casing portraits of famous people all done on a basic type writer. It was brilliant!

PS: I can "see" the dog :doggieshmooze:

Yes it's known by several names such as type writer art, teletype art and ascii art.
It was very popular way back when computers still had monochrome screen and we used modems or worse, telephone couplers to log into computer bulletin boards.
Of course those feeble computers had no graphics capabilities so ascii art was born.
Many army personal also killed the boredom by designing some real works of art on teletypes and type writers.

There are loads of examples here: http://www.chris.com/ascii/
must add a warning that some of them are rude.

Quite right, just learned from the wikipedia link in my previous post, that some go back to 1966.
