I've been at my mum's since last week Thursday, taking turns with Adam:eeew:. Hopefully when I go back home on Monday I'll have pictures of ma roses

Lady, slow down! You'll get yourself in a right pickle! :)

Going back to post #30......Did you get your soil sorted out? Is there nowhere else in the garden you can transfer the soil too, perhaps create a raised bed somewhere? If not I don't see why the chap that's doing the work can't take it away for you.

Evergreen Complete 4 in 1 is fine but there are cheaper equivalents available.

If you keep the roses in a bucket of water until you're ready to plant they should be fine. Planting this late though may delay blooming until later in the summer. Keep the Camellia watered too.

I hope young Adam gets well soon. :)

Thanks for this site and thanks to WOOs suggestion in another thread I just ordered 3 shrub roses from them . Autumn sunset, http://www.classicroses.co.uk/products/roses/autumn-sunset/ Fritz Nobis http://www.classicroses.co.uk/products/roses/fritz-nobis/ and Henry Kelsey http://www.classicroses.co.uk/products/roses/henry-kelsey/

Do you know what sort of a size they will be delivered at?
As they will be potted on into containers, can this be done now or should I wait until June as they suggest on their website?

Edit to ask: would a 35 ltr pot be too small for these roses?

            Thanks
            Andy

Lovely roses Gretzky! When my bare root roses were delivered they were about 18 inches high, so I would imagine yours will be around that. Get them into pots as soon as they arrive, if they look dry on arrival soak the roots in water for a couple of hours before planting. If they are in pots stand them in a bucket and they will soak up the water.

I'm not sure about the size of the pots, they seem a little small to me. Rose roots need as much space as possible.

                Thanks Sheal.
They`re potted roses and not bare roots and the website suggests waiting until June before puting them in the ground. I suppose it will be the same principal for tubs?

35 ltrs was a guesstimate. They`re 45 cm planters but I suppose I should play safe and get bigger. Anyone any thoughts on minimum size/volume?

                Thanks
                Andy

Roses you can plant any time of year as long as you look after them, particularly the watering during warmer weather. :)

                    Hiya sheal

Lol I did get myself into a mess but the break to mums did me good. Came back with fresh eyes. Adam is well now and I am calm.

Camellia is planted. roses I put a layer of compost on and gave them some rose food. Unfortunate out of 10 4 have shown life

Lawn doesn't look so bad to me now that I'm back with fresh eyes. It actually felt like I was away a yr when it was only 11 days. So will put weed an feed in the next few days and then seed in 2 weeks.

So here are the pictures, I'm still praying some of them are not dead.

The roses are lovely gretzky. Have they arrived yet?

Ok, question, if my habibies are dead, can i plant another rose there or would I still have to remove the soil?

Not yet L_B. They say around 10 days so maybe by next weekend.

Funny how you mention habibi. My missus calls me that all the time. I haven`t told her the real meaning yet or she wouldn`t :roflol:

Glad to hear your lad is now well and you're no longer a headless chicken!

Don't give up on the roses yet, they develop at different times. I have one that's just about to bud up and another that looks as if it's dead. Give it another month and see how they are then. :)
