Hi all, can anyone recommend a good place to buy large pond Lillies?

I'm near Stansted Airport, Essex, but willing to travel.

Also is there any types to aim for or avoid? I'm not really clued-up on water plants!

why don't you send away for one from a specialist water nursery as they are just starting to come into growth ideal time to plant now and the coming weeks , they will also let you know with the depth of water in your pond what variety would be suitable if you ask which is very important.

I have used these before and quality plants

They're going in a pond that is being used as a backdrop for wedding photo's in July. I usually prefer younger plants, but I'm thinking in this case something more established might be better...

I'm guessing they are not massively quick growing?

      Unfortunately not...
I think I'll have to start nipping in the local garden centres again, see what stock they've got in...

thats asking a lot as if its not sunny they wont open , they take a year to settle in and flower at different times during the summer , I have seen in flower arrangements in London cost a mint as they pour wax at the back of the flowers to keep them open if not they close over but not many florist stock them.

You could buy some false flowers no one would know if sat in the foliage of the lily pads

I'll have to check that link later on a computer, as my phone won't load the photos for some reason!

The flowers don't matter too much, they just want the foliage.

If you have ever tried removing a large water lilly from a pond you will know it aint easy.
Transportation would also be a problem.

Might be easier to just take the photos at a pond that actually has lillies growing in it already?
