    Hello everybody...

My continued adventure into what is actually growing in my garden continues. Despite having lived here for 3 years we are only just now starting on the garden.

We have 2 plants which we are trying to ID, so any advice would be appreciated.

First of is this rather nice looking shrub...

My hunch is it has the similar leaf shape as a ligustrum but I'm hoping someone can steer me in the right direction. It's semi evergreen. We would like to take cuttings from it if possible.

The next is this...even the husqvarna didn't finish it off (it may even be a weed!!)

Thanks guys!!! Any help is appreciated...

    Paul.

@Spruce - that was quick! Thanks! It does indeed have deep red flowers, although the leaves on mine appear more yellowish than in the pic.

I will keep the heuchera - it must be tough to survive the neglect and abuse thrown at it!!

We dont mess about on GC :snork:

I should imagine the Heuchera is in a well drained spot and likes the protection of the wall

It must do because currently one side of the garden is really exposed and the wind howls off the farm right through the garden. Hoping in another year I'll be able to get some tall perennials in but currently anything "tall" gets blown over.

you need to plant a wind break, I cant grow Delphiniums, winds sweeps in from the Atlantic like today !!! and I hate to see them getting held up with bamboo canes , mine all snap.

Yeah it's painful to see... Got a load of Hawthorne and blackthorn in between my garden and the hardstanding next to the house but it's growing painfully slow. Even the tough escallonias have Bern struggling today!
