I am a new member so hello to everyone! I have a question about a young spring flowering cherry I have in my garden which is now about 2 years old. We planted this tree in a corner in the hope that it will grow high enough to hide our overlooked view at the back. However, as width space is quite tight in this corner want we want to do is remove the lower branches so that the branches and foliage are all at the top of the tree with a bare trunk below. This shape of tree is a common site in town centres and along roadsides. Can anyone advise me how to do this without harming the tree and when it should be done? Thanks

Hello and welcome @rosielee, you will like it here :spinning:

Defo prune in summer, you can then see the good stuff to keep, and remove the stuff you don't want to keep, so you can achieve the shape required.

Good advice on those sites listed by HarmonyArb...... :dbgrtmb:
