    Hi All,

Is it too late to sow sweet peas?

I would think so Rusty . It is usual to plant SPs in late Autumn or early spring . I planted mine at the end of January , and planted them out early April . Mid May is late .
GCs and Nurserys sell little pots of young seedlings around March , but I have never seen large SP seedlings ready for planting out.

It is rather late but I sowed these about 10 days ago on a heated bench so if you're very quick you might be in with a chance:dbgrtmb:

Give them a go, I would soak them overnight to start the shell softening, with warmer weather ahead you have a good chance. :fingers crossed:

I always sow in the greenhouse Feb/March and outdoors into the border mid to late May. On the packets it says sow March/April but I always delay a month and always get blooms.

Good advice, I always soak sweet pea seeds for about 12 hours.

I will give them ago, I've got nothing to loose.

My wife planted some in pots yesterday that she forgot to sow earlier. Like you say Rusty, 'nothing to loose'!

Yes, too late to sow seed, they will flower very late. In my garden centre they have pots of seedlings - 10-20 seedlings per pot. They work out cheaper than buying seeds! and I count the seedlings in the pots and select the ones with the most!
